Variation in Heart Rate
Although the heart rate is constant in healthy people, some changes are necessary along the way. The nervous system changes the heart rate, so the body needs more or less blood. In type 2 diabetes, the heart rate may be higher than normal because the condition damages the nervous system.
Doctors recommend physical activity for people with type 2 diabetes for many reasons, including improving nerve function and nerve regeneration in the skin. A healthy heart rate is associated with better health and longer life. Scientists from the Universidad Extremadura in Caceres, Spain, and the Universidad Autonomic de Talca, in Chile, reviewed several articles showing that aerobic exercise, followed by muscle training, can help change heart rate.
