Bariatric Surgery for Diabetics
Bariatric surgery is a newer treatment for diabetes. So, how is diabetes five years after this surgery? In July 2017, the Journal of Surgery and Obesity reported one of the first studies that attempted to answer this question. The researchers concluded from the above results that sleeve gastrectomy offers long-term weight loss and amelioration or cure of diabetes. They also recommend quality exercise.
Another study published a month later showed good remission after bariatric surgery but suggested another procedure, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, maybe the best option instead of sleeve gastrectomy.
